Police have given an update on the investigation into the assault on a nightclub goer – more than six months after he was attacked.
Ben Pennington, 29, from Preston, was put into a coma following the attack outside the Level One nightclub in Darwen. He has since made a recovery and is back home.
The incident took place on Saturday 15 October and a police appeal for witnesses remains in place.
The suspect, now 28 and from Darwen, was released on bail until Monday (10 April).
A police spokesman said: “A 28-year-old man has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.”
Temporary Detective Inspector Zoe Russo of the Force Major Investigation Team said at the time of the attack: “The victim has sustained a significant head injury and is currently in hospital with his family by his side.
“While we have made one arrest, I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information that may assist the investigation to contact us.
“Many people were inside the club at the time of the offence and we believe someone must have seen what happened.”
