The car park of a Preston leisure centre has seen a group of travellers arrive.

Six caravans have parked up on the top car park at West View Leisure Centre in Deepdale.

It comes as the council-run leisure centres are poised to be handed over to the Greenwich Leisure Limited social enterprise.

An eviction notice is likely to be served on the group – although whether the change of ownership affects this remains to be seen.

One gym user said: “Everyone is avoiding the car park where they are.

“I was there early Saturday morning and saw five or six caravans parked up.”
