A bride-to-be is doing an unusual form of last minute preparation for her wedding.
Catherine Newton is planning to run a 5k just hours before she ties the knot.
The 27-year-old who lives in Farington is doing her usual parkrun at Cuerden Valley – just four hours before is walking down the aisle in Kirkham.
The NHS trainer said: “I just want the usual morning routine and that involves doing the run.
“Cuerden is a good course and I’ve been doing it for a couple of years now, so I want it to feel like a normal Saturday.
“My friends and partner think I’m a bit insane, well no more than usual, and keep saying don’t hurt yourself doing it!”

The Cuerden parkrun runners are planning to mark Catherine’s final run as Miss Newton by making her wear a veil and many runners are expected in fancy dress.
Her husband-to-be Matthew Lathan won’t be joining Catherine on the run.
She said: “As is tradition we won’t be seeing each other on the morning of the run.
“I’m looking forward to celebrating with the parkrun community. There is a great atmosphere and I’ve done 55 runs now and volunteered 32 times. I’ve even run one in South Africa.”

The couple are getting married in Kirkham at 1.45pm before the reception at Ribby Hall so Catherine feels with parkrun at 9am she will have plenty of time to get ready.
