The car park at Preston Bus Station is to be shut for 24 hours for electrical work.
Lancashire County Council is closing the car park within the grade-II listed building from midnight on Saturday.
The temporary closure of the car park does not affect the bus or coach operations at the bus station.
It says the essential work is needed to replace the electrical system which serves the car park and other areas of the building.
Lancashire County Council’s project manager Andrew Barrow said: “We hope that people will bear with us while this essential work is carried out.
“It’s a major challenge to keep the building open during this work, and there are times when we have to close certain sections for safety reasons.
“We’re doing everything we can to keep the disruption to a minimum and complete the work on schedule.”
The top levels of the car park recently reopened after major renovation work and work has now moved to levels four to seven.
