Passengers on a train arriving into Preston were left shaken as it crashed into an end of line buffer.
The Northern srvice, the 14.47 arriving from York, came to a juddering halt as it arrived into Preston Station.
Mark Ormerod was stood on a nearby platform and saw the incident.
He said: “I wasn’t on the train, I was stood on the opposite platform.
“Driver seemed to jump on impact and it wasn’t going very fast, maybe 30mph or so.
“The buffer has bent and one passenger had visibly sore ankle and another had broken glasses.
“There were a few people on the train as I left the station.”

No disruption is listed as a result of the incident on Northern services or trains in or out of Preston.
A spokeswoman for Northern said: “Northern can confirm that an incident took place at Preston station shortly before 3pm. A very small number of people have been injured and the emergency services are in attendance.
“A full investigation will be carried out.”
