A driver was caught travelling over double the speed limit just hours after a serious incident on the same road.
The car was moving at 77mph along Blackpool Road, which is a 30mph zone, at approximately 11.39pm on Tuesday (April 18).
Blackpool Road had earlier been closed following a serious incident that saw one driver freed from their vehicle using hydraulic cutting equipment.

Lancashire Road Police had a busy night as they also caught a driver speeding in Penwortham.

The vehicle was travelling at 90mph along Golden Way, which is a 50mph zone, at approximately 10.11pm.
Both drivers have been summonsed to court for driving offences, say police.
