A staple of childhoods in the 1970s and 80s is to be broadcast from Preston Guild Hall as British wrestling returns.
Recalling the era of Big Daddy and Mick McManus the World of Sport Wrestling is back for a 10-part series.
Two episodes are to be held in Preston’s Guild Hall and feature the up and coming talent from the UK’s wrestling scene.
Preston is home to Preston City Wrestling which is attracting a strong following and has performed shows in the Flag Market, Evoque and the Guild Hall.
IMPACT Wrestling are putting on the show which has been commissioned by ITV after a one-off special on New Year’s Eve.
Chief creative officer for IMPACT wrestling Jeff Jarrett said: “The WOS brand is etched in professional wrestling tradition. My family’s lineage in the industry dates back 70-plus years, so I am honoured to revive the legacy of this historic British series.”

Impact wrestling’s roster over the years has included Mick Foley, Kevin Nash, Sting, Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, and AJ Styles.
The shows are to be filmed on Thursday 25 May and Friday 26 May with doors at 7pm and bell time at 7.30pm.
Director of entertainment at ITV Studios Manchester Tom Mclennan said: “Britain’s wrestling scene is thriving and there has never been a better time to bring it back to ITV after a gap of 30 years.”

Tickets for the shows go on sale at 9am on Friday 7 April from Ticketmaster.
The line up is not being released yet, but fans can attend a launch event in Manchester, which will include a Q&A and a meet and greet. Places are extremely limited, to reserve one please email wswaudience@itv.com
