Prestonians were looking skywards throughout Thursday afternoon as a low-flying military plane went overhead.

The Airbus A400M was taking part in routine training exercises according to a Ministry of Defence spokeswoman.

The plane was spotted over the Ribble Estuary and plane spotters thought it would be a BAE Systems plane or exercise.

However, a spokesman for BAE Systems said it was not one of theirs and was a military aircraft.

The plane landed at Blackpool Airport as part of its training exercise.

Suzie Loudy said it flew over Fulwood on three separate occasions.

Karen Ebden spotted it in Longridge.

The plane was not showing on popular plane spotting websites such as FlightRadar.
