Gentry Day is back this weekend as Preston North End fans head on the road to Fulham.
Once a year, PNE fans don bowler hats in for an away game in March – something no other football club does.
Preston Supporters Group have arranged the now annual event for an away game each season since 2008.
It was restarted in 2005 in memory of John Tracey a member of the original PNE gentry who passed away that year.
The Gentry tradition dates from the early 1970s when Alan Ball senior described “Preston fans are the best, they’re the gentry”. This inspired a number of PNE fans to don bowler hats and pin strip suits for the next game at Deepdale.
Now, the day is a day of remembrance for every Preston North End fan who has passed away.
Preston North End take on Fulham at Craven Cottage at 3pm on Saturday, March 4.
Virgin Trains, an official club partner, put on a limited amount of tickets for the return train to London at £30 to mark the occasion.
