Police are investigating what they have branded a ‘distasteful’ act of vandalism in Bamber Bridge.
AdvertisementA vehicle belonging to one homeowner has seen its tyres slashed – and the car has been specially adapted for a young disabled child.
South Ribble Police say the vehicle had signs clearly indicating it had been adapted for someone with a disability.
It is one of a number tyre slashing incidents in the Bamber Bridge and Walton-le-Dale area in the past few days.
PCSO Teresa Smith has outlined how the police are responding.
She said: “We have increased targeted patrols in the area, both in marked and unmarked vehicles. We are also conducting plain clothed patrols in the hope of catching the offender(s).
“As you will well be aware these crimes do not happen in front of us. A high visibility presence may well be reassuring to the public however it is not always conducive to catching offenders.
“Unfortunately the quality of the CCTV that we currently have so far is not of sufficient clarity to make a positive identification. However, as we do not believe the offender to be local to the area, the footage has been circulated internally and may possibly be recognisable by a different policing area.”
