One of Preston’s most prolific businessmen has been recognised for his achievements.
AdvertisementSimon Rigby was granted an MBE by Prince Charles during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
Mr Rigby, who owns the Guild Hall among other businesses, was given the honour for his services to business in the North West.
The 55-year-old father-of-two said: “Buckingham Palace was much bigger and more impressive than I thought it would be. Everything was very well organised. Prince Charles greeted me with ‘you’re the green energy man’. I explained that we grew electric which always hooks people.”
“As the award was for service to business in the North of England I do think it for the efforts of all the team. I am just fortunate to be taking the bows. Literally in this case!”
Prince Charles expressed an interest in visiting Mr Rigby’s Kirk Group – which is a specialist firm in liquid and biogas storage solutions.
