The water pipe which has burst leaving hundreds of Preston homes without a full water supply has been described as a ‘tricky repair’.

Update: Water is now back ON across Preston

Engineers are on site in Cumeragh Lane, Whittingham, working to patch up the 18-inch pipe.

Since 5am on Friday (10 March) homes have reported a loss of water pressure or a complete lack of supply.

United Utilities says it has successfully redirected water from another pipe to serve some homes – which are due to see supplies restored by lunchtime.

Prestonians have been thanked for their patience while the repair work continues.

United Utilities estimates supplies will be restored to households in the PR2 and PR3 postcode areas by around 4pm – although it may be early evening before full supply is back.

A number of schools in the Fulwood area have been forced to close due to the water issue.
