Preston drugs raids begin with three people arrested

Police in Preston have begun drugs raids across the city.

Branded Operation Nexus the first warrant executed was Duke Street in Frenchwood.

Officers found a quantity of cannabis, a bag of white powder (thought to be cocaine) and a quantity of brown powder (thought to be heroin).

A second property was also searched at Elizabeth Street in Preston city centre, where two men were arrested after cannabis was discovered.

A 32-year-old man and a 49-year-old man were both arrested at the property on suspicion of possessing a Class B drug.

A 21-year-old man from Manchester was arrested in Walton View, Fishwick, on suspicion of breaching his court order and transferred to Liverpool County Court.

Police have launched the week-long crackdown in response to a number of serious incidents in recent months.
