Man cut free after multi-vehicle collision at Longridge

A man had to be cut free from his vehicle following a multi-vehicle collision in Longridge.

Three vehicles were involved in the incident at around 7.30am this morning (March 7) at the junction of Higher Road and Chaigley Road.

Lancashire Fire & Rescue attended the scene and removed the roof from a red Chevrolet before the man was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with suspected back injuries.

A spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue said: “We were called to reports of a road traffic collision at around 7.35am on Higher Road near to Beacon Fell View Caravan Park.

“Two fire engines from Preston attended the accident which involved two cars and a transit van.

“We released a man from one of the vehicles using hydraulic cutters and spreaders. The man was taken to hospital via ambulance.”

The other vehicles involved were a black Ford Fiesta and a Ford Transit pickup.

Higher Road is closed following the incident.
