Police are looking for a man after an attack near Preston city centre.
AdvertisementAround 3pm on Tuesday (7 March) a 26-year-old man was attacked in Queen Street.
He was walking along and as he approached the pedestrian crossing at the junction with Manchester Road he passed by two men.
One of the men then struck the victim over the back of the head with a bottle leaving him with a two inch cut.
Preston Police have arrested and released on bail a 19-year-old man from Preston on suspicion of wounding.
Detectives are also seeking a second man who is described as white, skinny, wearing a grey jumper and blue jeans. He was around 5’3″ and had short hair.
Detective Sergeant Jerry Sturgess, of Preston CID, said: “This was an unprovoked and callous attack on a defenceless individual.
“The offenders have approached the victim before carrying out a cowardly assault from behind.
“I urge anyone with any information at all to come forward. We are particularly keen to identify this second male.”
