Amelia needs Proton Therapy treatment in USA
A Preston health spa has set has set up a campaign to try and raise money so that nine-year-old cancer patient Amelia Brome can get the lifesaving treatment she needs.
Amelia lives in Ingol with her parents, and is currently battling a cancerous tumour with ongoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy, however the disease has already caused her to lose sight completely in one of her eyes.
She has been selected by the NHS to receive Proton Therapy treatment, which is only available in the USA, and Flame Urban Spa in Garstang Road has set up the campaign to try and help with the family’s living expenses at this time as it is a three month process to fly Amelia to the USA for treatment.
The spa is hoping to raise a total of £10,000 however will be grateful for any donations that are made, to help with the families living costs whilst they are off work to care for Amelia.
Cheryl Brome, Amelia’s mum, said: “The treatment Amelia needs is used instead of radiotherapy, the long term side effects are reduced and it has better results.
“Amelia was selected by the NHS and they will fund it which is great news as it is the best treatment for her.
“I work at Flame Urban Spa and my boss set up the Crowdfunding campaign.
“The support we have been receiving is overwhelming, especially from my workplace.
“They have gone above and beyond to help, and lots of clients have been asking for any way that they can help us too.”

A spokesperson for Flame Urban Spa said: “Amelia is undergoing chemotherapy and has just found out she qualifies for Proton Beam Therapy which isn’t available in the UK.
The NHS will fund the treatment and travel but as it is a three month process we are raising money for the families living expenses whilst going through this difficult time.
“Any donations, no matter how big or small, will be much appreciated.”
