Greenland New Labour Club, located in Ribbleton, has announced its reopening with new management hoping to bring the club back to success.
AdvertisementThe social club on Chatburn Road revealed its closure in November last year.
New owner, Michelle Vernon Anderson, was officially handed the keys for the Greenland Club and is starting a 4-6 week refurbishment before reopening on 29 April.
The refurbishment will include redecorating the building, a new heating system, new ladies toilets in the games room so the main room will be made private for private functions, and new furniture.
Michelle, along with her husband William Anderson, ran the club until they left in 2014.
She said: “We have always felt that the club is the heart of the community and have decided to take it back on for the community.
“After the club shut we we were asked by lots of different people to take it back on again.
The club will feature live entertainment bingo and open the box every Sunday night.

There will also be events such as ‘Star Nights’ and ‘Soul Nights’.
The pair are open to suggestions of other events that customers will like, and they are hoping to get sports sections involved including darts, snooker, pool and football.
Michelle added: “Having a club in the area brings everyone together for special occasions and nights out so it will benefit the community as a whole.
“Obviously it’s a risk that we are taking but we think it will be worth it to see the people in the area together again and to bring back community spirit.
