Fire crews were called to an incident after a van caught fire on the hard shoulder of the motorway this evening (March 3).
AdvertisementTwo appliances are crews from Bamber Bridge and Chorley responded to a call to the blaze between junction 8 and 9 on the M61 northbound.
The incident took place at around 7.02pm and one lane was closed while crews and Lancashire Road Police dealt with the vehicle.

Firefighters used two hosereel jets to extinguish the fire. There were no casualties as a result of the incident.
All lanes reopened at approximately 8.47pm.
