Avenham car park is seeing the ability to pay by smartphone introduced.
As reported by Blog Preston in November the move has been taken by Preston City Council to introduce the MiPermit app.
Drivers can manage payments via the app or via the MiPermit website.
Cabinet member for community and environment councillor Robert Boswell said: “With the introduction of the new, innovative software this will make visiting Avenham car park much easier and more convenient. You will no longer need to worry about carrying cash or rushing back to your car to top up the ticket.
“By managing your payments online it will become hassle free.
“Despite these changes Avenham car park will continue to be patrolled regularly, with CCTV cameras always recording.”

The current machines will continue to offer cash payment and paying online has a 20p service charge attached.
The city council said they introduced the cashless payment after feedback from motorists.
Avenham car park is open Monday to Sunday from 6.45am to 8pm and has space for 560 cars.
