Work has begun on bringing a new look to one of Preston’s historic side streets.

Cannon Street is currently closed off to traffic and maintains very narrow access for pedestrians.

Lancashire County Council is ripping up the pavements to bring in the Fishergate-style street scene to the road.

Shop owners are also being encouraged to work with Preston City Council to improve the look at shop fronts with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The work, which began on Thursday 16 February, is due to take 10 weeks to complete.
