Preston’s Market tradition is continuing – but it has a temporary new home.
Conlon Construction have begun work on the new indoor-outdoor market under the main Market canopy.
This means traders using the outdoor market and the second-hand market, and car boot, are using the recently restored Fish Market canopy.
It’s a much smaller place but traders say it is ‘business as usual’.
The current Indoor Market is also trading as usual during the works, which are expected to take around nine months.

Preston City Council confirmed permanent signage for both the indoor and outdoor markets was in progress, and they are ‘committed to promoting the markets throughout and beyond the works’.
The new indoor market is part of the £50million markets quarter project which includes demolition of the current indoor market, Market Hall car park and the majority of Lancastria House.
