Preston city centre stabbing leaves McDonalds and roads closed

A young male has been taken to hospital following a suspected stabbing in Preston city centre.

McDonalds in Friargate and the alleyway into Lowthian Street near the Black Horse pub have been sealed off.

The incident took place around 5.45pm on Tuesday (21 February) and Preston Police have arrested a Preston man on suspicion of assault.

Inspector Martin Bishop said: “Lowthian Street will be closed for the forseeable future while we begin this investigation.

“We are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident at this time.”

The arrest was made at a nearby address.

Preston Police said the incident is related to both locations, and blood can be seen outside the McDonalds where officers stand guard.

The victim has been taken to Royal Preston Hospital and the extent of his injuries are not known at this stage.

A staff member at the Black Horse pub said: “We don’t know what happened. We heard someone was injured, but we didn’t see any ambulances or anything. We’re only going off what the police are chatting about. The police are checking our CCTV now but it’s not the best.”

Residents in Lowthian Street are being escorted to and from their doorsteps by police while the road closure is in place.
