Now Lancashire County Council – who are refurbishing the building – are completing the barrier work.

The Bus Station has seen a number of falls from the car park roof in recent years.

A spokesman for the county council said: It’s sad to hear about this incident at the bus station over the weekend. We pass on our condolences to her family and friends.

“As part of the redevelopment of the bus station, we’ve planned to add measures to reduce the chance of incidents from happening in the future, this includes measures on all floors.

“The measures are being introduced as part of the concrete repairs and other refurbishment work to the car park levels.”
