Safety barriers have been fitted to the top of Preston Bus Station following the latest tragic event.
AdvertisementA woman in her 60s fell from the top of the grade-II listed building during Saturday (18 February) afternoon.
Now Lancashire County Council – who are refurbishing the building – are completing the barrier work.
The Bus Station has seen a number of falls from the car park roof in recent years.
A spokesman for the county council said: It’s sad to hear about this incident at the bus station over the weekend. We pass on our condolences to her family and friends.
“As part of the redevelopment of the bus station, we’ve planned to add measures to reduce the chance of incidents from happening in the future, this includes measures on all floors.

Preston Police confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances regarding the incident on Saturday and a file would be passed to the coroner.
