The opening date for the new HMV in St George’s Shopping Centre has been confirmed.

The Fishergate record and entertainment store closed its doors last month and is reopening inside the shopping centre in the former Peacocks site.

The opening date for the new store is February 17.

A HMV spokesman said as the old store closed: “We’d like to take this opportunity to thank our many loyal customers who have supported us for over three decades at hmv Preston and look forward to welcoming them to their brand new store.”

General manager of St George’s shopping centre Andrew Stringer said: We’re really looking forward to adding HMV to the mix here at St George’s. Preston has been home to the brand since 1984 and it is very popular with shoppers.”

The staff from the old store have all been transferred to the new HMV.
