Major rail disruption after man hit by train near Leyland

Preston train passengers have seen their journeys affected this morning after a death on the line near Leyland.

A man died after being struck by a train around 5.30am.

Delays of up to 90 minutes and cancellations are being experienced from Preston Station after emergency services dealt with the incident.

All lines have now reopened and delays are expected until 9am on Tuesday (7 February).

Buses have been drafted in to supplement train services.

Travel advice:

TransPennine Express customers may use Virgin Trains services on any reasonable route.

Virgin Trains customers may use Northern services between Wigan North Western and Manchester Piccadilly.
