A road in Fishwick was closed off while emergency services dealt with a fire at a flat.
AdvertisementLancashire Fire and Rescue Service had crews at the scene and made ‘a number of rescues’ according to a spokesman.
Preston Police assisted with road closures and the block of flats was evacuated.
A spokesman for police said advised the public to avoid the address, understood to be the Meadway House flats in Samuel Street, while they dealt with the incident.
The fire started around 1.40pm on Sunday (12 February).
Six fire crews were called in from Preston, Penwortham, Fulwood and Bamber Bridge to the fire in a five-storey building.
Two people were rescued by firefighters and a number of others were led to safety.
The two people rescue were treated by the North West Ambulance Service.
A spokesman for the fire service said control room operators also guided a number of people to safety over the phone.
Crews remain at the scene investigating the cause of the blaze, which is understood to have been started deliberately.
