A man arrested on suspicion of assaulting a nightclub goer has seen his bail date extended for a secondĀ time.

Ben Pennington, 29, was left in a coma after the attack outside the Level One nightclub in Darwen.

The 27-year-old suspect, from Darwen, was released on bail until Monday (9 January) and Lancashire Police now say he has been bailed until Monday 10 April.

Police continue to appeal for witnesses to the attack on the Preston man, which took place on Saturday 15 October.

Temporary Detective Inspector Zoe Russo of the Force Major Investigation Team said: ā€œThe victim has sustained a significant head injury and is currently in hospital with his family by his side.

ā€œWhile we have made one arrest, I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information that may assist the investigation to contact us.

ā€œMany people were inside the club at the time of the offence and we believe someone must have seen what happened.ā€
