M6 crash near Preston involved six vehicles as police appeal for witnesses

Police are appealing for witnesses after a Land Rover crashed onto the wrong side of a motorway near Preston.

The M6 was shut for more than an hour on Sunday night while the wreckage of a six-car collision was cleared.

A Land Rover crossed from the northbound carriageway into the southbound carriageway between Junction 31A and Junction 32.

Miraciously there were no serious injuries during the crash which involved a Ford Focus, Ford Fiesta, Ford Ka, Audi and Volkswagen Golf.

The incident took place around 6pm and caused long delays on the M6 southbound in particular.

Emergency services reopened the motorway in both directions around 8.30pm on Sunday (29 January).

Anyone with information can contact Lancashire Police on 101 quoting log 1131 of January 29. No arrests have been made.
