Some of Preston’s oldest residents decided they wanted to make Christmas better for those who have nothing.

Staff and users of the Charlotte House day centre in Avenham made up Christmas bags.

Filled with warm clothes, scarves, jumpers and gloves – plus a few chocolates and toffees – the bags were given to the Foxton Centre ahead of Christmas Day.

Day centre manager Lesley Jones said: “The group decided they wanted to do something to help those.

“They donated the items and made up the bags themselves.

“Some of our staff then took the bags into town and gave them out and two large sacks were taken to the Foxton Centre.”

Three bags were also given to the Fox Street hostel.
