Motorists are being warned of some disruption as a new roundabout is built in Cottam.
Six months of roadworks are to take place in Tabley Lane, just up from the crossroads with Hoyles Lane and Lightfoot Lane.
Lancashire County Council is building the roundabout ahead of a number of new housing developments due to be built in the coming years for the North West Preston Masterplan.
Temporary traffic lights are to be put in place while the work is done.
Where the new roundabout will be positioned
A spokesman for the county council said: “The scheme is part of planning conditions agreed by Preston City Council with Taylor Wimpey, for the Haydock Grange housing development site off Hoyles Lane and Tabley Lane.
“The work, which is expected to finish in May 2017, has been arranged by Lancashire County Council and will be carried out by contractors working on their behalf.
“As part of the same project, utility companies will also be working to move services to supply the new development, which should reduce the need for further disruption in the future. This includes BT, United Utilities, Electricity North West and National Grid.”
