Highways England footage shows the lorry on fire

Part of the M6 near Preston is expected to be closed overnight for resurfacing work after a major vehicle fire.

A truck was seen ablaze containing paint and aerosols shortly after 9.30pm on Monday (12 December).

Update: Resurfacing work continues on Tuesday morning, with only one lane open

The incident between Junction 31A (Ribbleton/Fulwood) and Junction 32 (Broughton) saw a truck on the hard shoulder. One lane is due to be open while the rest are resurfaced.

A lane on the southbound side has also been closed.
