Hundreds of households without power in Preston blackout

Sunday dinner has been left in tatters at some households across Preston due to a power outage.

Reports have been coming in of power and lights going out in Lea, Larches and Ashton-on-Ribble.

Electricity North West confirmed 1,735 properties had been affected by the blackout in the PR2 area.

They said: “We will get a team there ASAP to get supplies restored.”

The Lancashire Evening Post’s football writer Dave Seddon was one of those caught up in the blackout.

The power supply went off shortly after 5pm on Sunday (11 December).

A message from the energy firm said supplies can take up to two hours to be restored following a ‘high voltage failure’. Most homes had power restored by 6.30pm on the Sunday.
