Future fashion designers and models strutted their stuff in Preston.

A partnership between the Fishergate Shopping Centre and the University of Central Lancashire the catwalk event sees outfits from brands such as Debenhams, Primark, TJ Hughes and TK Maxx n display.

Two students were picked as the winners of the modelling competition.

Ndey Manneh, 21, was the best female and 20-year-old Daniel Collins was the male winner.

Model Ndey travelled from Manchester with friends to take part in the fashion show.

She said: “I didn’t know it was a competition when I arrived, it’s great to be picked out as a winner.”

UCLan student Daniel Collins said: “I’m amazed to have won. I’m only here because I was walking on campus and someone gave me a piece of paper with details of the event and asked me if I’d go along. I just did as I was told and walked where I was told to go. It was good fun!”

The pair were presented with their prizes by last year’s male winner Tom Craig, 25, from Fulwood, who has gone on to carve out a modelling career working for a number of well-known brands.

Three fashion promotion students Katie Wellens, Olivia Bannister and Emma Hill won stylist awards for the looks they had put together for the show.

Fishergate Shopping Centre manager Keith Mitchell said: “Once again show was fantastic, the hard-work of the talented students at UCLan really paid off and it was a night filled with creativity and glamour, which the large and appreciated audience really enjoyed.

“The partnership we have developed with the university is a great way to harness and use the ideas and the enthusiasm of the students and bring youthful fashion ideas to the centre and you certainly saw that throughout the show.”
