Penwortham Christmas Gift Fair 2014

Penwortham’s Christmas Gift Fair is returning to Penwortham Youth Centre for a fourth year on Wednesday 14 December.

The fair will take place at the centre on Priory Lane from 6 – 9pm, and has become an integral part of Penwortham’s Christmas Markets which will be held at the same time on Liverpool Road.

The evening will host a selection of local craft stalls selling a variety of handmade crafts such as Christmas decorations, home accessories, jewellery, children’s toys, knitted winter warmers, art work and Christmas gifts.

Entertainment will also be provided with guests contributing live music and a café offering refreshments.

The event, where everyone is welcome free of charge, is being organised by Eleanor Ritchie along with manager of the youth centre, Ben Clayton.

Eleanor said: “It is an opportunity for the young people to get involved.

“They run our little café for the evening and we will be entertained by some more young people with Christmas carols and songs.

“It is also an opportunity for local crafter and artisans to show their handmade work. We can’t wait.”

Penwortham Christmas Gift Fair 2014

The fair was originally held to fundraise for the MacMillan charity which is close to their hearts after a colleague died from cancer and Eleanor’s mother has recently been diagnosed.

Now they use the proceeds raised from the café and table fees to help fund activities within the youth centre.

A range of people will be getting involved in the fair including 15 stall holders, youth groups that use the centre, local artists, artisans, crafters and people who venture out and support the event every year.

Eleanor, who is a stall holder at Manchester’s famous Spinningfield Markets, is excited to bring some of her fellow Manchester stall holders to the fair where locals get to show off their work close to home.
