To celebrate 15 years since Preston became a city, two road races are being held in 2017 in Walmer Bridge.
Both 5 and 10 mile races will be taking place at Walmer Bridge Village Hall, on Gill Lane, Preston on Sunday 13 August next year.
The 5 mile race will take the scenic route around the Walmer Bridge Village Hall and the surrounding area.
The 10 mile race will follow the same route as the 5 mile, however athletes will have to complete two laps of the course.
The races, organised by Conteq Events, will start at 9am and finish around 1pm and hope to be as successful as previous event such as the Lostock Hall Carnival 5k.
Organiser Michael Brennand is hoping the event will be a great success, and is planning on making a fun filled day that all the family can enjoy featuring special guests.
He said: “The road races are open to all and hopes to become an annual event.
“It will be a great day out for everyone, Preston’s own afternoon olympics, and we hope to inspire people to train in the sport.
“Top runners in the region have already signed up to participate.”
