A number of police cars and fire engines are on the scene, at what is believed to have been a robbery at nearby Hackler’s Jewellers.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service have deployed an aerial platform as part of the incident.

The road was closed from 9am on Sunday (20 November) and this is causing a number of delays on the Ringway and surrounding city centre roads.

A spokesman from the fire service confirmed they had been called but said Preston Police were leading the incident. Firefighters helped take police officers up onto the roof of the jeweller’s.
