The overturned lorry on the M6 Pic: Stephen Perry
The M6 was shut near Preston due to an overturned lorry.
All lanes were closed northbound between Junction 29 (M65) to Junction 30 (where M61 joins). The lorry has overturned just beyond Junction 30 towards Junction 31 (Tickled Trout).
Traffic is being diverted off the motorway at Junction 29 – so expect Preston city centre to be snarled up.
Emergency services are in attendance and there is also slow traffic in the opposite direction on the southbound side. The incident is also having a knock-on effect on the M61 northbound where it joins the M6 with Junction 9 northbound now closed.
Shortly before 3pm on Monday (14 November) delays northbound started before Junction 28 (Leyland) and on the southbound side from Junction 31A
Specialist recovery equipment was needed to clear the vehicle. All lanes were reopened around 6pm.
Traffic remains held on N/B #M6 J30-J31 #Blackburn while emergency services deal with overturned HGV. Thanks for your continued patience pic.twitter.com/pVDLfn69Bf
