A safe will sit in the middle of the Flag Market in the run up to Christmas with a very special prize inside.

Prestonians are being asked the crack the six-digit code for a chance to win £10,000.

From 11am to 11.30pm on Saturday 10 December there will be a chance for shoppers to guess the code.

Whoever gets it right will win £10,000 and have one heck of a Christmas.

Alongside the safe-cracking there will be prizes handed out throughout the Saturday from city centre businesses including shopping vouchers, restaurant vouchers and offers from bars and clubs.

The City Safe is organised by the recently re-elected Preston’s Business Improvement District who are responsible for promoting the city centre.

Preston BID manager Mark Whittle said: “Preston has lots to offer for a great Christmas and the City Safe competition could make it even more special for one lucky winner. We’re inviting members of the public to come to Preston city centre, enter their chosen code, and be lucky enough to scoop this amazing prize.

“The City Safe is in town for one day only; we’re urging people to hot foot it to Preston on December 10th to try their luck.”

Chair of the city’s Preston at Night group Leigh Sweetman said: said: “Preston’s an animated city throughout the year, but even more so at Christmas. We want people to come and enjoy what Preston has to offer on December 10th and hopefully walk away with a life-changing amount of money.”

What are the rules?

There is no charge to enter

You only get one guess per person

There is no age restriction

Anyone receiving drinks vouchers on the day must be over 18 to use them
