A woman has been treated for burns after a house fire in Fulwood.

Emergency services rushed to a house in Barnacre Close, off Sherwood Way, after reports that someone was trapped in the house.

Fire crews from Fulwood, Preston and Penwortham arrived at the scene to find a woman was outside the house suffering burn injuries and the effects of breathing in smoke.

Firefighters put out the blaze and used a portable fan unit to extract heat and smoke, during the incident around 9am on Monday (31 October).

No one else was hurt in the fire and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

A spokesman for Preston Police said the incident was not linked to the investigation into a sexual assault in Fulwood where a woman was found unconscious near the Sherwood pub after reports of an incident in Barnacre Close.
