A pensioner is in hospital after a crash in Ingol on Monday morning.

Preston Police were called to Tag Lane around 11.30am and closed off the road for around an hour.

A collision between a white van and an elderly man, age 73, left the pensioner with a suspected head injury outside the One Stop shop.

The white van had left the scene and was traced to Garstang Road where a 48-year-old man from Newcastle-under-Lyme was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

He remains in custody during Monday (3 October) and police are appealing for witnesses.

Anyone with information can call 101 quoting incident ref 165 of October 3.
