Artist impressions show how Haute would look in Church Street
A former nightclub in the centre of Preston is to become a swanky new restaurant.
Haute cuisine is coming to what used to be Mokai and New York Steakhouse in Church Street.
Plans from the Opulence Group have been tabled showing how the restaurant will replace the sticky floors of what used to be PR1, The Ritz and many others over the years.
It used to be The Ritz cinema and had a bold art deco frontage dating back to 1937.

Proposals from Hay Innovations Limited outline how the back of the nightclub will also get a major facelift and also be an entrance – rather than just a car park and smoking area.
The current building dates back to 1937 when it replaced an existing structure and opened as the Ritz cinema.

In 1962 it went through further works to become a dance hall and cinema, and further conversions made it a bingo hall before it closed in 1992.

In 2008 it reopened as a nightclub before eventually becoming Mokai but this closed in late 2014.
