Fire crews remain on the scene after a house fire in Penwortham.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service scrambled crews from Bamber Bridge and Penwortham to the property in Bramble Court, off Kingsfold Drive.

They arrived to find the ground floor of the house well alight, but all occupants were safe.

Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire but had to pull back due to the seriousness of the flames.

An aerial ladder platform was used to tackle the fire as it had spread the roof of the property around 4am on Friday (28 October).

The fire was put out around 8am and one fire crew and aerial ladder remain in place damping down.

A spokesman for the fire and rescue service said: “The cause of the fire is not yet known and an investigation will be carried out as soon as possible.”
