A Mercedes was found abandoned and smashed up after a collision with a police car in Preston.

The police helicopter was out above Ribbleton after the crash between the car and the on duty vehicle.

Police were called in to Roman Way around 11pm on Tuesday (27 September).

The Mercedes fled the scene and was later located in Bracewell Road.

A number of parked vehicles were damaged during the incident.

A 28-year-old man from Lancaster and a 20-year-old woman from Preston have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and remain in custody.
