Winckley Square undergoing restoration work and a screengrab of the area in Pokemon Go
Desperate Pokemon Go hunters have been scaling railings around a historic Preston park undergoing restoration work to catch their favourite Pokemon.
Winckley Square is closed for two months of drainage and other works as part of a Heritage Lottery bid.
But Preston Police are warning gamers they need to steer clear of the area.
PCSO Stephen Connolly said: “Please remember that Winckley Square park is currently closed as renovation work has now started. This means that the Pokéstop in the centre of the park is now inaccessible however we’ve had reports of several persons climbing over into the park. Please can those playing the game not do this as there is an active building site with excavation work on-going and as such could prove dangerous.
“I have requested to Niantic (the firm behind the game) that this stop be removed to prevent anyone from coming to harm. Don’t worry as I know there are plenty of other stops in the area so you’re not missing out!”
