The M6 southbound was closed near Preston due to a jackknifed lorry.
AdvertisementMotorists are reporting long delays in both directions and stretching back to the Broughton roundabout and into Preston because of the crash.
Highways England had closed the motorway between Junction 32 and Junction 31 to assist emergency services around 10am.
Delays are expected to last until around 2pm on Sunday (4 September). Garstang Road in Fulwood is heavily congested with motorists finding an alternative route through Preston. Traffic is slow nearly back to Junction 33 of the M6 heading southbound.
Three lanes have now been reopened on the M6 southbound between 32 and 31a while emergency services repair the crash barrier.
The M55 eastbound was also closed from Junction 1 towards the M6 southbound, it has now reopened by traffic remains slow in the area.
