The Ferret’s show this weekend is going to extra mile to ensure artists get looked after.

Local musicians can get a rough deal from promoters and are often asked to play for exposure or in exchange for beer on the night.

Locale Fest looks to counter this by ensuring all proceeds from the tickets to the show go to the artist.

Dan Morris, manager and promoter at The Ferret, said: “With running 100’s of shows a year, trying to bring the best new & exciting music to the city, we sometimes we neglect to reflect on how rich with talent our local music scene is. It’s unreal.

“The idea is that we bring everyone together to support each other and collectively celebrate our local scene.”

The line-up includes Los Vencidos, Moon & the Beams, Porter & May, Drunk Girls, Fugios and David Rybka. All of the artists are performers from the local community.

The venue have also negotiated a deal with New Amsterdam Spirits where 50p from every spirit and mixer will go to the artists.

The show will be at the Fylde Road venue on Sunday, August 28. Tickets are £3 and you can buy them from here. They will also be available over the bar or on the door.
