Preston’s recently crowned Miss England returned to the play scheme she’s volunteered at for the past four years.
Elizabeth Grant, from Ribbleton, made her way to Leyland in her PJs to join the summer camp fun.
The 20-year-old psychology student was crowned Miss England last month, after representing the city as this year’s Miss Preston.
She joined the children in Leyland in meeting from creepy crawlies and holding reptiles during the fun day.

Elizabeth said: “I’ve got to admit I was scared as I’m not keen on spiders at the best of times.
“I preferred holding the snake but the pictures of the tarantula are my favourite.”

She’ll be swapping Leyland for more luxurious climbs when she and her boyfriend Curtis jet off for Mauritius – part of her prize for winning Miss England.

In December she heads for Washington DC to represent England in the Miss World competition.
