Preston’s newly crowned Miss England has one of her first public appointments since winning the crown.
Elizabeth Grant, from Ribbleton, won the title in July and is heading back to where it happened.
The 20-year-old student is going to help launch the Southport Flower Show.
Lizzie said: “I’ve always loved Southport as I used to visit as a child. I was already planning to visit the flower show this year so I am really delighted to be invited as a special guest for the opening ceremony.
“My sister used to love daisies so they are my favourite flowers as they have a special meaning to our family and make me feel safe. We always love Spring when the daisies come out.
“My Mum is very green fingered and keeps a lovely garden. She’s coming with me to the show and we’re both hoping to pick up some top tips form the experts.”

Elizabeth has dedicated her titles to raising funds for the Derian Children’s Hospice in Chorley, where her 12-year-old sister Melanie was treated before she died of a brain tumour in 2001.
Preston’s blossoming rose will appear on the opening day, Thursday 18 August.
