A body has been recovered from Preston Docks.

Eyewitnesses have reported a heavy police presence on the Docks including an ambulance and water search team from the fire service.

It comes as police stepped up their search for missing Preston man Martyn Cunliffe.

One bystander, who asked not to be named, said they had seen a white bike pulled from the water, followed by a body.

Martyn has been missing since Monday (22 August) when he was last seen leaving home in Walton’s Parade.

Emergency services have been at the scene in Navigation Way since shortly before 12noon on Saturday (27 August).

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “We were contacted following reports a body had been found in Preston Docks close to Navigation Way in Ashton-on-Ribble.

“Emergency services attended and sadly a man was found deceased.

“The body is yet to be identified and while the death is currently being treated as unexplained, it is not thought to be suspicious.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 0612 of August 27.
