Police closed off a busy Preston junction on Saturday night due to a serious incident.

Cromwell Road, in Ribbleton, had a number of emergency services vehicles where it meets Ribbleton Avenue.

Bystanders at the scene said the incident was a ‘suspected stabbing’.

They described seeing an Asian man being put into an ambulance.

One man, who asked not to be named, said: “I saw a silver four by four which was surrounded by police vehicles.

“There were five police cars there and the ambulance was at the junction. The road was taped off.”

He added a number of Asian men shouted threats at onlookers who were in the area.
