Police closed off a busy Preston junction on Saturday night due to a serious incident.

Cromwell Road, in Ribbleton, had a number of emergency services vehicles where it meets Ribbleton Avenue.

Bystanders at the scene said the incident was a ‘suspected stabbing’.

They described seeing an Asian man being put into an ambulance.

One man, who asked not to be named, said: “I saw a silver four by four which was surrounded by police vehicles.

“There were five police cars there and the ambulance was at the junction. The road was taped off.”

He added a number of Asian men shouted threats at onlookers who were in the area.

The road was seen closed around 11pm on Saturday (6 August).

No further information is available from Preston Police at this time.
